Yangon–Chengdu Direct Air Route and Bashu Cultural Corridor Tourism Products Promoted in Yangon

YANGON, Aug. 26 — A promotional event for the Yangon–Chengdu direct flight route and Bashu Cultural Corridor tourism products took place in Yangon to enhance cultural and tourism cooperation between China and Myanmar and expand two-way travel opportunities.

Guided by the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism in Yangon, and the China Cultural Center in Yangon, the event was jointly organized by Myanmar Airways International (MAI), Chengdu Haiyou Holiday International Travel Agency Co., Ltd., and Chongqing Silu International Travel Agency Co., Ltd. Support was provided by the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Chongqing and Yangon International Airport. Representatives from government authorities, tourism associations, and enterprises gathered to explore new avenues for regional collaboration.

Leveraging the upcoming direct passenger flights between Yangon and Chengdu, the event showcased premium tourism offerings along the Bashu Cultural Corridor. Highlights included Sichuan and Chongqing’s natural landscapes, cultural heritage, wellness options, and cross-border study tours tailored to meet the needs of Myanmar travelers.

Speaking at the event, Counsellor Li Qianguo of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar noted that the direct route will facilitate personnel exchanges and strengthen the bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. U Nanda Aung, Director of the Yangon Office of the Directorate of Hotels, Tourism, emphasized that the new connectivity will boost two-way tourist traffic and support long-term economic cooperation between Myanmar and Southwest China.

Representatives from the travel industry also expressed strong optimism. Bao Xixiang, General Manager of Chengdu Haiyou Holiday International Travel Agency, pledged to build a mutually beneficial market, while Mya Chit Swar, Executive Manager, Network Planning and Scheduling of MAI, assured that the airline will provide convenient and reliable service for passengers traveling on the new route.
